Happy First Day Of The New Year!

So, I have some New Year's resolutions in my head that I refuse to put in print (that way if I don't keep them, you guys don't know what a loser I really am ;-), but one that I will put into print is my resolution to memorize scripture. I have decided to join LPM in their year long scripture memorization challenge. Here are the first verses I chose to memorize for the year:

Jeremiah 33:2-3

"This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name: 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'

Why did I choose these two verses?

This is what the LORD says -- If the Lord said it, I want to hear it

he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it - if the Lord made the earth, then my little problems are nothing for Him to handle

the LORD is his name -- He is the Lord, not me, my name is Beth - His name is the LORD - I have to quit trying to do His job for Him because I stink at it.

Call to me - I don't do that enough

and I will answer you - when I do call on Him, I don't always expect an answer and am sometimes shocked when I get one - whats up with that? Oh me of little faith!

and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know - If the Lord is willing to tell me things, I want to learn to be still and listen.....especially great and unsearchable things!!

  1. Hey Bethanne,
I saw your post on the LPM blog so I followed the link and found your blog! I was reading all the different verses the Lord has given to the "siestas" and I noticed Johnson City and when I looked closer at your pic...I said "I know her...we go to church together"...I'm very excited about memorizing scripture! Maybe we can have a little extra accountability when we see one another at church! Are you doing any of the ladies bible studies that are starting on the 7th!Happy New Year!

  3. Happy New Year, Bethanne!!

I joined LPM also. I chose Isaiah 33:2 (Holman translation).
I just love doing things together. I desperately need the accountability.

  7. Look at the new blog page--all fancy schmancy!!! Very nice!

I have the same resolution of scripture memory. I don't have enough scripture in my heart/head to call upon as I face the everyday chaos that I call life. Puttin' on the "armour".

Blessings to you in 2009 Bethanne!

  12. I had no idea you had signed up on LPM - I did too! My verse is Jeremiah 29:11. After I came through First Place I quit memorizing verses. This verse is one that I can paraphrase but need to know by heart. On the 15th I bet I sign up with my verse first thing. It takes to long to get to the end! Oh yes, I too like your new look. Guess I'll have to get a new look too - that is if I ever blog again.
