Well, Shut My Mouth!

I have never been a KJV only person. There is nothing wrong with being a KJV only girl, but I like to check out different translations to help me understand what God is saying through His Word. This morning I was reading in Exodus about the Israelites escaping Egypt and how God parted the sea for them. I could write a book (and I might) about the Old Testament and how the Israelites were so stubborn when God had proven Himself to be the True God so many times. Remind you of anyone? Anyway, I read Exodus14:14 in the NIV and decided to look it up in The Message. Here is how the Message says it:

"God will fight the battle for you.
And you? You keep your mouths shut!"

I love it!!!! What a great lesson for me today (and everyday). I need to let God fight my battles (it's not like I could really fight them myself anyway) and just keep my mouth shut. When someone is unkind to me, I need to let God fight that battle and keep my mouth shut. When someone gossips about me, I need to keep my mouth shut.

Lord, help me to let you do the fighting and keep my mouth shut.

i just love the Message. like this passage, it tells it like it is... like God just hit you over the head with a 2x4. i posted a piece of scripture on sunday that did the same for me. i need that 2x4 a lot.

Thanks for visiting my blog! The funny thing is -- I actually spent some time breezing through yours last night following a link from another blog, but didn't have time to comment because my husband walked in the door. What a small bloggy world it is becoming! :)

I absolutely LOVE this post and it is so true. I also love the title -- made me giggle! I definitely need a clamp for my own runaway mouth many days!! Thanks for the reminder! Looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.

By the way, I just have to say that the picture of you with your kids seems to capture such a fun spirit in your home...I bet you have a contagious laugh!

Tara,
I dont know how contagious my laugh is, but I do it quite often. There are very few serious moments in my house. And with 2 boys ages 3 & 6, there is not a dull moment. Thanks for visiting !!! You are right it IS a small bloggy world. hahaha
